You can easily make cheap DIY begleri by tying monkeyfist knots around marbles, steel bearings, rocks, or other objects with enough weight to make it comfortable. - I would recommend to start with at least 7ft (~2m) of cord.
- Start to tie one one monkeyfist, but before tightening, slip the marble/bearing/etc. inside of the knot, then tighten around it.
- Leave a length of cord to use as a joiner, and repeat on the other end.
- You can adjust for length by pulling more cord through the knot once you're finished.
This is a very popular method of making a first set of begleri due to the availability of the materials needed. Paracord is plentiful and cheap, and marbles can be found around the house or at the dollar store. Here is a good tutorial, because my explanation isn't the best:
